Services . . .
We raise all-natural beef that is born here and finished here. We do not feed or inject any antibiotics.
Highlands are hearty.
We specialize in beef that is chemical-free. We offer for sale 1/4 ers 1/2-of-1/2s sides and whole beefs.
In today's market, people want a beef that is lean and flavorful. The Highland steer fits that bill. Their long-hair coat and thick hide prevent them from putting on back fat because they do not need it.
Highland cattle marble on grass makes for a flavorful and tender cut of meat that is healthier meat for you to enjoy. Our Highlands are finished as mature, flavorful animals.
Our animals are not injected with growth hormones throughout their life. They may grow a little slower because of it, but that's just fine with us.
Health-conscious people are looking for grass-fed beef because of the low-fat and cholesterol content (ldl chlo. vs hdl grass vs grain fed). Grass-fed beef is like eating fish: It is good for you. People with kidney problems are STEERED toward grass-fed beef by their DOCTORS because it is better for their kidneys.
We eat the beef that we raise and have pride in what we raise.
All of our beef animals are Highland Cattle. The Queen of England has a large herd of these animals, and they are the beef of choice for the Royal Family. I know if it is good enough for the Royal Family, it is good enough for ours.
What we do at Post Oak Ranch is to encourage you to be involved with the finish of the animal. If you want a whole beef, you get to choose the animal that you would like; then, we decide together upon a finish for you.
Ice grass, grain and a combination of both are what we have to offer. Our animals are kept in a very humane manner. We have 130 acres at the home ranch for the animals to roam. We raise our own hay, which is the main supplement for our cows.
SEED stock: As a registered cattle breeder, I know I'm raising a beef animal that fits into today's beef market. They cross very well. When bred to a polled animal, you generally get a polled animal. If you want to get your heifers into rotation a little faster, breed to a Highland for low birth-weight and a nice, growing calf. You won't get color and horns like breeding to a low birth-weight longhorn.
(Insert Canada remarks here about stroh carcass data 22 out of 25 at Denver and some on cross-breeding Herford/Highland or link).
With BREEDING stock, we cull very hard, and a heifer makes a fine beef to eat. So, if we are offering a heifer or a bull for sale, you can bet it will meet great expectations.
Here, Highlands aren't just a pretty face.

Post Oak Ranch understands that customers have many choices, and that in today's economy, every dollar spent is done so after thoughtful, careful consideration.
